How Does Best Lawyers® Choose the “Best” Firms?
The Best Lawyers in America® is famous for basing its membership selections on its “purely peer review™” methodology. The organization knows that candid insight from legal peers who work with one another is often the most trustworthy source to learn about what a legal professional or an entire law firm can do for their clients.
To begin the selection process, nominations are collected from legal professionals. An attorney can nominate anyone but themselves. The nominations are sent for a peer review process featuring attorneys who have already been named to Best Lawyers® in some fashion. The feedback from those peers is analyzed carefully by Best Lawyers® and its independent team to ensure there have been no biased or embellished selections. Next, the leading names among nominees go through an eligibility check that sees if they are in good standing with their local bar associations. The final step is announcing the results to the public.
