Overview
Jordan E. Trager, Esq. is a seasoned partner at Wisselman Harounian Family Law, where he brings more than 30 years of litigation and mediation experience to complex matrimonial and family law matters. Admitted to the New York State Bar in 1995, Jordan has spent his career advocating for clients facing challenges including divorce, child custody and visitation disputes, child support matters, orders of protection, and parental alienation issues.
Jordan’s approach to family law is both strategic and compassionate. He has tried numerous complex divorce and Family Court cases, skillfully handling contested hearings while also preparing and negotiating settlements tailored to his clients’ needs. In addition to courtroom advocacy, he is a certified divorce and family law mediator, successfully guiding clients through sensitive negotiations involving custody, property distribution, support, and parenting plans.
Jordan is also a seasoned mediator and has been a member of the Queens County Matrimonial Panel for many years where he mediates divorce matters for the court, frequently helping parties settle their divorce cases and resolving their disputes to an amicable conclusion. Jordan has also helped numerous clients in private mediation which takes place in the office.
A respected voice on parental alienation, for many years Jordan led the Parental Alienation Awareness Organization, a not‑for‑profit dedicated to educating the public and legal community on this challenging issue. He conducted and supervised group meetings through this organization, helping parents understand and respond to parental alienation dynamics in family law cases.
Recently, Jordan was invited to attend and present at an international conference on parental alienation in Toronto, Canada where he presented to an international audience on the topic of the psychological harms of parental alienation on the alienated child.
Jordan is a frequent panel contributor to legal publications, with articles on parental alienation and alternative dispute resolution, appearing in outlets such as The New York Law Journal and Long Island Business News. His work reflects a deep commitment to advancing understanding of complex family dynamics within the legal system.
