Join Us at the 12th Annual Legal Workshop for Mental Health Professionals

Divorce

Wisselman, Harounian & Associates, P.C. will host the 12th annual Legal Workshop for Mental Health Professionals on June 14th at the Port Washington Yacht Club in Port Washington, New York. The workshop will focus on the impact of mental disorders, such as bipolar disorder, on child custody determinations. During the workshop, members of our legal team will present and examine an actual case study, where attendees will listen to evidence from both sides of a real custody dispute. Then, participants will deliberate each side of the argument, discussing the particulars of the case study. The workshop will be held from 12:00 pm to 3:000 pm, free of charge. Lunch will be provided.

The workshop will focus on parenting styles, personality disorders, mental health issues, parental fitness, mental health, and the impact of these matters on child custody cases. For example, the workshop will compare permissive and authoritarian parenting styles as they relate to mental health and custody. These issues are relevant to family relationships and can have a significant impact on the outcome of a child custody case. Additionally, participants will explore the possibility of mediation and the role of mental health professionals and forensic evaluators in child custody cases.

Dr. N.G. Berrill will speak at the workshop, discussing his personal involvement in child custody cases. Dr. Berrill obtained a doctorate in clinical psychology from Vanderbilt University. After graduation, he received post-doctoral training from Georgetown University Medical School, where he focused on clinical neuropsychology. Over the course of his career, Dr. Berrill served as a consultant for many high-profile child custody and criminal cases. With more than 20 years of professional forensics experience, Dr. Berrill has the skill and practical understanding to provide valuable insights on these types of cases.
